Multicultural Diversity
Description:
The EASFAA Multicultural Diversity Committee is responsible for supporting
minority financial aid administrators, assisting minority students
in the access to and success in higher education, and further sensitizing
the higher education community to the issues faced by minorities in
higher education.
The focus of the committee is going back to the basic. The recent
siege on affirmative action in higher education threatens not only
to erode our basic principle of awarding aid to the neediest students,
but our society as well. Through articles and dynamic presenter, we
intend to underscore the need for creative thinking and action by
our membership to prevent higher education reform that will revert
to the days when only a few token minorities were recruitement and
funded.
In addition, the Committee will participate in the "Upward Bound:
Bound for Success Project" for the College Board in partnership
with NASFAA's Multicultural Committee.
A good resource for information about
scholarships for minority students is the Minority
Students Section of the Financial Aid Information Page
by Mark Kantrowitz.
