Important Message

The EASFAA Executive Council believes Black Lives Matter. We stand in solidarity with the black community. EASFAA is committed to diversity and inclusion and we believe it is important for us to educate ourselves and others, especially during difficult times like this.

EASFAA has built a robust library of online training and in 2020-2021, we will continue to expand our footprint through education for the EASFAA community. The association will provide a series of educational opportunities including webinars and open forums for discussion throughout the coming year to inform and empower our community on Black Lives Matter activities and advocacy. If there are topics you are interested in learning about, please do let us know as we want to provide timely and relevant resources for our membership.

As financial aid administrators, we have often been the voice of positive impact toward socioeconomic justice for our students. It is clear that more needs to be done. While we recognize that we alone cannot bring about the change needed, let us pledge to continue to work through action and education towards the justice called for when we say Black Lives Matter.

Sincerely,
Shawn Morrissey, EASFAA President 2020/2021

Welcome to EASFAA

EASFAA Friends and Colleagues,

This is a very unique time for our association, we are facing an ever-changing landscape with new regulations, travel restrictions and possible restructuring of college operations. We are all being pulled in new and varied directions and our time is limited. We as an association have weathered serious challenges many times before and like before the association and our members will come together to support each other. More than ever, we need to rely on each other and the strength of EASFAA and its members to navigate this maze. EASFAA is well positioned to continue to deliver you timely and helpful information through the Tuesdays at 2 webinar series that is offered to all members at no additional charge.

I personally invite each of you to volunteer and get involved. I can assure you from experience that any amount of time you put in will be rewarded. My EASFAA friends and colleagues are my most trusted and valued source of support. EASFAA is establishing a new Financial Wellness Committee to help our campuses deliver information on financial literacy to our students. Please consider joining this or one of our many other committees.

We are a more vibrant and effective association when we have a variety of perspectives, ideas, and experiences to share. I challenge you to continue to grow and develop; we have the right mix of offerings to support you. While we are in uncertain times, one thing remains sure and steadfast in my mind, we as financial aid administrators will continue to be a force of strength, reason and hope for one another and the students we serve.

Warmly,

Shawn Morrissey
2020-2021 EASFAA President
