Embracing the fundamental belief in all children.
The 2017 Conference Committee is proud to partner with the King Street Center as our community service organization/charity for our annual conference in Burlington, VT. King Street Center is a non-profit community organization in Burlington that provides children and families the core life-building skills necessary for a healthy and productive future. They are home to Head Start Toddler and Preschool programs, Afterschool Excellence, and Teen Futures – including tutoring & mentoring opportunities. King Street Center also offers the award-winning Kids on the Ball tennis program.
Be sure to attend the lunch on Monday, May 8, 2017.
The Teen Futures program provides middle and high school youth, age 11-15, the opportunity to develop their interests and learn new skills as part of a close-knit, caring community. The program includes several core components that focus on academic success, healthy lifestyle choices, and job readiness training. These activities are balanced with daily opportunities for sports, games, field trips, and more. Key components of the program include:
Lemonade Stand - Staff and students from the King Street Center will be in the Vendor Area on opening day of the conference from 11:00am-5:00pm. They will be selling lemonade, a well- known Burlington activity on the commons during the summer months. Stop by their booth and make a $5 donation and receive a glass of lemonade in a souvenir cup. All proceeds will go to support the King Street Center’s Roxane Leopold Scholarship.
T-Shirt Sales - Throughout the conference, King Street Center T-Shirts will be available to purchase for $20. All proceeds will go to support the King Street Center’s Roxane Leopold Scholarship. CLICK HERE to pre-order your T-Shirt(s). You may pay at the conference when you pick up your shirt, or you may pay in advance.
EASFAA will be supporting the King Street Center though a variety of fundraising efforts throughout the conference. Planning is underway for a lemonade stand similar to the one they run during the summer months on Church Street and our popular gift basket raffle. Proceeds raised throughout the conference will be used to support the Roxane Leopold Scholarship. Upon the retirement of former Executive Director, Roxane Leopold, the Board of Directors launched a scholarship fund in 2007. The interest of this endowed fund is intended to defray college tuition costs for King Street Center alumni. Gifts have ranged in size from $500-$2,500.
